Push Start to Continue
This is a thing I’ve been doing forever, but only recently realized was witchcraft. When I was a teenager I used to draw buttons on my skin and press them when I needed to calm down – at some point I started doing it on paper instead. I’m not usually into techno-witchcraft, but the symbolism of pushing a button to activate something is so ubiquitous that it barely registers as “technological”. Here’s what I do:
- Write the word/phrase you want to invoke;
- Draw a rectangle around it;
- Draw more lines to make it look 3d, and/or make it shiny;
- Press the button to activate the magic!
I use this most often to make a “focus” button on scrap paper, when I’m frazzled at work. I’ve also been experimenting recently with using a START button to activate paper spells, which is pretty fun! Squares & rectangles are the shapes I feel are most powerful (most of my sigils are square as well), but there’s no reason you couldn’t use a circle, pentagon, or whatever you want.
I’ve been daydreaming about making a “keyboard” to carry around with me, with buttons for focus, protection, calm, and things like that, but I haven’t gotten around to making it yet.
